BSc. Computer Information SystemsUniversity of Regensburg

Jan is working on his master thesis as a research intern at the Urban Informatics Lab, exploring how unpredictability of demand causes food waste in small to medium-sized restaurants. His research focuses on the data, tools, and technology restaurants use to support order and demand management. Using a human-centered design approach, Jan will develop software simplifying these processes. The research project combines his passion for well-crafted software with his interest in gastronomy and everything food related.

Before joining the lab, Jan gathered experience as a web developer and user experience designer, working for start-ups as well as large corporations in Germany and the US. He develops and maintains the website for SocailRide, a student-run NGO handing out bicycles to refugees in Munich.

Besides his interest in well-crafted software, Jan enjoys hiking, surfing, tennis, and everything food related.
